Aletheia Publishing is proud to announce that one of its latest publications has been listed as a finalist for this year's Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards. Published last May 2022, The Franciscans (OFM) in the Philippines: 1578-2022, A Synthesis by Fr. Antonio Maria Rosales is one of three finalists under the Ministry Category in the aforementioned award.
The book documents how the Franciscans in the Philippines have lived the humble spirit of holistic and inclusive evangelization since their very first missions in Luzon in 1578. In his foreword of the book, His Eminence, Jose F. Cardinal Advincula, Archbishop of Manila, writes that "the fruitfulness of the Franciscan mission is one of the innumerable reasons for our celebration of 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines. Their creativity in transmitting the faith to the natives is a lesson modern Catholic missionaries must learn that they may be guided in today's complicated digital world."
The Franciscans (OFM) in the Philippines: 1578-2022, A Synthesis stands with two other finalists under the Ministry Category, namely Catholic Social Teachings in Contemporary Philippine History YOC (1971-2021), Volume Three and MCMLXXII: 500-Taong Kristiyano (1872-1972), Volume Two – both written by Dr. Jose Mario Maximiano and both published by CSCBA Hall of Famer Claretian Communications, Inc.
This is the first time Aletheia Publishing is nominated for the Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards, which is already a win for independent publishers of religious and inspirational books.
The winners will be announced at the 16th CSCBA Online Ceremonies on September 15, 2022 at 6:00 PM, via The Manila International Book Fair FB Page.
